Southern Extremeties Productions Presents…
“Trampling Australia and New Zealand Tour”

Currently on a world tour to support the release of their latest offering “Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead”, U.S brutal Death Metal stalwarts Skinless are making their first trip down under. Pushing the boundaries of extreme metal since their inception in 1992, Skinless have returned to a more primitive and brutal sound with their new release - whilst retaining a technical, modern feel. With their drummer of the last 2 albums John Longstreth returning to Origin, original skinsman from their first full length Bob Beaulac returns to the fray with a punishing performance. And on the strength of this latest - and arguably most brutal release to date - Skinless are coming to Australia and NZ for the first time.
Playing as the national support is Tasmanian brutallers M.S.I., who are currently in the midst of a new and soon to be released album. All line-ups feature many of Australia’s most brutal and/or extreme acts:

Bleak Forest. [16 Aug 2006|02:27pm]

Hey guys,
Info about the project is pretty scarce, but I noticed Bleak Forest is missing from the band list. Droning ambient black metal from Hobart, released a 3 song EP not so long ago. That's about all I can think of right now; most of the obvious ones are there already.

Southern Extremeties Productions Presents

Mephistopheles “Ascension Aborted”
Release Date - 1st September, 2006

Hailing from Hobart, Tasmania [Australia], the group Mephistopheles plays a technical yet wholesome brand of death metal, verging on the extreme. Since the bands inception around 2 years ago, the group has moved in leaps and bounds. Their only release to date was their 2005 “Grail of Wisdom” demo - a rushed, and from the bands perspective an unsatisfactory release. They set about honing their style, playing live often (including supporting international act Disgorge as well as many other local and national shows).
2006 has seen the group enter the now infamous Red Planet Studios (responsible for albums from other Tasmanian metal artists such as Psycroptic, M.S.I. and Ruins) to record their debut album. And now Southern Extremeties Productions are proud to announce the release of this promising acts first album entitled “Ascension Aborted”.
8 tracks, over 30 mins of quality modern styled death metal drawing influences from the likes of Athiest, Deicide, Suffocation, Psycroptic, Necrophagist and many others - culminating in a modern approach, whilst retaining a more organic and older death metal feel - this is an album not to be missed. Additionally, this is the first official release for new label Southern Extremeties Productions – think of it as a taste of what is to come. So don’t miss this exciting new chapter in Australian death metal- it’s title: Mephistopheles “Ascension Aborted”.

Hi - introductory post.

I'm Talie. I'm not from Tassie actually, I'm from Melbourne. But I'm interested in learning more about Tasmanian metal. I'm also a music journalist. (For info about that, you can check out http://www.ztmag.com/TH.htm and/or http://www.myspace.com/talie_helene )

If there are any Tassie bands who want coverage, it's really easy to contact me through this lengthy link - http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/comment/comment.pike?mail=t&at=1118737353&uid=chyrselfyrs&firsttime=t

I also co-moderate australianmetal and metal4melbourne.

So Hello.

I got bored the other day and created a couple of communities, I hope you will take time to join!

The first one is spazmania_music, about the Tasmanian/Hobart Music scene. It's pretty dead *well, compared to most other places*, so it needs as much support as it can get!!! JOIN!!! Especially if you live in Tasmania!

australian_punk I am hoping to find someone to moderate this one. But to keep with the initial theme that "punk" is whatever it is to you. So must have a sense of humour! I fucken HATE punk elitists. GRRRRR. Just as bad as "goth" elitists. hehehe.
Anyways, hopefully will focus on aussie punk bands mostly.

Okey dokey. Thats all. Get your friend's to join.
